Dear friends of Miriam's Table
So much is happening every day now at Miriam's Table. Some news is exciting, some is heart wrenching, and some just touches our hearts knowing God is in the lead!
Our joy was to overflowing when our Miriam's Table building was a place where UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) came to pass out mosquito nets through their "Imagine No Malaria" campaign. We are located in a very remote area so, with the guidance of Dr. Yohadi, the mosquito nets were given to our mothers and children!
Since Dr. Yohadi is part of our Partnership staff, and has been a crucial person in getting Miriam's Table set-up, she continues to come to our site for medical support of our children. All the children are being weighed and measured so we can check their growth as they begin to eat daily. She also brought medication for each child for intestinal worms. So, our children are now part of the group of children that receive care that has been a part of our Mpasa location for 10 years.
On our first day, October 13th, we fed 65 children, yesterday, just 13 days of feeding later, 250 children came to our center to eat. Our staff was overwhelmed, but made more "poto poto" to feed them. If you remember, there is a small river below our location. On the other side, the "poorest of the poor" live. They had heard that food was being served to children, but believed that would cost money, when they found out that the meal was free, all their children came!
God has placed us right where we are most needed! And we know because He is in charge of the project... He will provide!!
Thank you for your continued prayers as we walk this path together!
Ed, Susie and Miriam
